Caring for your HijabAs most hijabs are an important part of your wardrobe, it is important to keep them looking good. Here we've outlined how you can keep your favourite hijabs looking and feeling their best, so you can keep on wearing and enjoying them. Caring for Cotton HijabsCotton hijabs are very easy to look after. You can wash these in the washing machine with your other clothes - although be careful to wash very light and dark colours separately! You can also iron and tumble dry cotton hijabs on the appropriate setting. If your cotton hijab has embellishments like lacy trims, beads or delicate embroidery, you should follow the instructions below. Caring for Polyester HijabsPolyester hijabs can be thrown in the washing machine. You can tumble dry and iron polyester, but make sure you use the 'synthetics' setting on your machines.
Caring for Silk HijabsSilk hijabs require more careful handling. Creased silk hijabs can be lightly ironed using a low setting. Check the manual for your iron to find out which setting is best. Silk scarves should only be washed when soiled. You can hand wash your silk scarf gently in warm soap and water, but dry cleaning is recommended. Caring for Lace HijabsMost lace used in hijabs and underscarves is made from polyester and synthetic blends, but you should always check. Polyester lace can be washed in the washing machine, whilst silk or cotton lace should be hand-washed in warm water and hand-wash detergent. If you are unsure about the lace on your hijab, it is best to hand-wash it. Caring for Beaded, Embroidered, Sequin HijabsHijabs with beads, sequins or embellishments should be carefully hand-washed, as machine washing will loosen and eventually pull out the embellishment. Hand-wash them gently in warm water with an appropriate hand-wash detergent. If you have an embellished hijab made of silk, chiffon or another delicate material, it is best to have it dry-cleaned.
Storing HijabsSimple polyester and cotton hijabs can be folded and stored in a drawer. It's a good idea to pin the different parts of al-almeera hijabs together, or you'll end up frantically searching for the matching piece! If you have silk hijabs or delicate hijabs with beading or sequins, it's best to fold them between layers of tissue paper. This should protect the embellishments and keep the silk looking pristine.
