Fastening Your HijabIn busy everyday life, keeping your hijab fastened and on your head can be a challenge! But there are lots of ways to fasten your hijab, from simply tucking in the ends to pretty clips and pins. Here are a few ideas and tips for fixing your hijab securely, so you don't have to worry about your scarf slipping and get the look you want - whether it's a special occasion or you're just popping to the shops. Hijab PinsHijab pins are usually inexpensive and are available in a wide range of colours and styles. They are great for securing rectangular hijabs. Most Islamic clothing shops sell basic pins at low prices, and it's always a good idea to pick up a few matching pins when you buy your hijab. You can also find a great choice of pretty hijab pins online. We have a great selection of jewelled and plain hijab pins, so you can easily adapt your look and secure your hijab in style. BroochesPretty brooches are a great way to decorate your look with a bit of colour and sparkle. You can find suitable brooches in Islamic stores or any clothing shop, so they're an easy way to bring current fashions into your look. It's usually best to pick smaller brooches and use them to pin your scarf at the shoulder - this can look lovely for special occasions like weddings and parties. Straight PinsThese are basic pins - the kind used in sewing. Straight pins are great because they are unobtrusive, so you can neatly pin your scarf for a formal occasion or a clean, unfussy look. You can find plain straight pins in any shop and lots of stores sell pretty versions with coloured or flower heads. Just be careful not to prick yourself by accident! Barrettes and HairclipsHairclips are another stylish option and they can be found in any high street shop. Snap barrette are your best option as they clip fabric firmly and are available in lots of colours and styles. A pretty barrette looks great if you use it to fasten your scarf at your neck, and plain barrettes are great for fastening your hijab discretely at the back or top of your head. They're also a simple and cheap way to incorporate fashion trends into your look where appropriate. Hair ElasticsHair elastics are great for holding the ends of your scarf together. You can find them in every style from plain and simple to ones with flowers or beads attached, so you choose a style that goes with your look. Hair ties are a good idea if you are pulling the ends of your scarf back behind you. Scarf RingsScarf rings are used to gather neck scarves together but they can also hold the front ends of your headscarf together. They tend to come in decorative styles and are best used for a simple babushka headscarf - a square scarf folded in half with the two ends gathered under your chin. Scarf rings are less widely available, but it's worth having a look in shops that sell silk scarves and pashminas. Featured Hijabs
